Old Red Barn Quilt Along
June 7, 2009
I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve decide to play along. This will be an exercise in follow-through. I tend to start a project and then leave it for something more interesting…especially with something as daunting as a quilt. I’m really afraid of messing up. Which attitude of course gets in the way of learning…but here I am. So. Much as I’d love to be using the Paula Prass fabrics, I don’t have any and wanted to get this show on the road as soon as possible. I’m using random fabrics from my stash, I think they will look alright together, but there are a few that have me doubting. But I usually like the wild card fabric you find in a lot of antique/scrappy quilts. So, that’s what I keeping in mind as I begin.
Here are my fabrics:

Group 1 from left to right: vintage feed sack type cloth from my grandmother, flirt by Robyn Pandolph, two Zazu chandelier prints by Tina Givens

Group 2 from left to right: the first two are nice sized pieces I found in the remnants bin at Joanne’s, pink & white is an Alexander Henry print, last piece is more Flirt

Group 3 (these would be the wild cards, particularly that purple): all four prints are from Joanne’s and I don’t know who the designers are. But I really love the green print–it’s kind of a pixelated dot that is very fun.
