December Daily
by lauralynne
Last year I wanted to participate in Ali Edwards‘ December Daily project but either didn’t find out about it in time, or forgot to get started. I also felt a little silly since it is just the two of us–no kids or even family close by to mitigate my feelings of awkwardness. But the thing is–I really love the holiday season. I love preparing for it, listening to the music, enjoying the anticipation and picking out special gifts for loved ones. However, when it is just the two of us–and one of us being someone who just doesn’t get excited about celebrations (but who will join in quite happily if someone else is leading the way)–it is easy to just enjoy the holidays peripherally. I think something intentional like this project and/or an Advent list will help us be more active participants in the holiday and less like we just watched it pass. Plus, I think it will be a fun way to start making our own holiday traditions–now that we own a home, I feel a lot more rooted in both our community and our lives.
