Progress!

bri_s quilt top

This week I:

  • finished Bri’s quilt top.
  • helped a friend make her first quilt (almost done — we just have to complete the binding)
  • made the 3 double star blocks for the Seeing Stars QAL
  • kept up with my City Sampler Blocks

By far the most time was spent with my friend — she is the kind of person who once she sets a goal, wants to finish it RIGHT. NOW. It was a lot of fun, but I’m tired. We spent about 7 hours finishing the backing and then quilting! I will say that working so steadily on this project gave me new appreciation for the time it takes (me) to make even a relatively simple quilt — definitely time was spent on teaching and showing that isn’t typically spent on my regular quilts, but I do tend to look up techniques or tutorials if I feel stuck or whatever, so overall it feels pretty accurate. It also was interesting to me because for the most part I am self-taught. I took sewing in 4H for a few years as a kid but since then I really have just puttered around on my own. Explaining how to do something to someone else made me think about sewing and what I do myself in a new light. Anyway. Overall it’s been a really great experience!

Linking up to Can I Get a Whoop, Whoop?, Finished or Not Friday, and TGIFF @ Dizzy Quilts.

ETA: I am also linking up to Happy Quilting, to show my Week 1 Seeing Stars Progress. I can’t believe I forgot, since that objective helped me get those stars done this week, lol!
